Inner Child Work

Pilar practices trauma-informed care to assist clients heal the adult wounded child who has experienced various forms of trauma, abuse, and neglect.
The concept of the inner child was first proposed by psychologist Carl Jung after he examined his own childlike inner-feelings and emotions.
Pilar uses Jung’s holistic approach of individuation to cultivate different aspects of the personality to function harmoniously and authentically. This process not only helps heal the inner child within, but also helps clients to change their negative self-narrative or self-talk by learning how to be more kind, gentle, companionate with oneself. This is called “re-parenting.”
Healing your inner child is one of the greatest gifts you can give yourself, you will feel joy, contentment, freedom, love, and compassion as you never experienced before. You will be an adult with the spirit of your inner child.

Shadow Work

The Shadow is one of Carl Jung’s archetypes. Shadow work entails identifying the repressed version(s) of you that have been environmentally conditioned to hide during childhood and adolescence. The shadow can operate on its own without our full awareness by involuntarily doing things that we later regret.
Common Jungian archetypes include:
  • The shadow, the aspect of the personality that we prefer to hide.
  • The persona, the part of the personality that we prefer to show to the world.
  • The hero, the aspect which thrives on challenges.
  • The wise old man and wise old woman.
Pilar assists clients to work on the "shadows" of their personality that consists of negative human emotions like excessive fear, rage, jealousy, greed, selfishness, apathy, and contempt. Shadow work includes addressing the Disowned-self, which are the parts of us that we avoid or repress, including inherent positive qualities. Pilar works on identifying clients’ projections, which are qualities we deny in ourselves, but we see in others.
Shadow work is a healing approach that will help you reconnect with versions of you that have been wounded, dormant, and repressed. This process will allow clients to experience freedom feeling genuine and authentic, honoring who they truly are.
